X is for X-Rays

"x is for x-rays"There is a lot of talk about the safety of having an x-ray when pregnant. It is important that you know the facts so that you can make the most informed decision should you need to get an x-ray at any time during your pregnancy.

Many x-rays that are necessary do not expose any radiation to your baby at all, so these x-rays are considered fairly safe. For example, let’s say that you need some dental work done. Your dentist may need to x-ray your teeth to see what is going on. The radiation used to take this x-ray isn’t going any further than your face. The technicians will even have a special leaded apron you can wear while having your arm or leg x-rayed.

In fact, I have a cousin who only got sick at night. She had to quit her job at a pharmacy because her boss wouldn’t switch her schedule from evening to morning. Breasts tend to become sore and the normal monthly menstruation is missed. Most women do not show during their first trimester, which lasts up until week 13.

S is for Sex of the Baby

"s is for sex of the baby"Back in the days when my grandmother gave birth to my father, there were no ultrasounds or amniocentesis procedures. That meant that the sex of every baby born was a surprise. Today, women get a choice. Some prefer to know the sex of the baby as soon as possible, while others want to wait until the baby’s birth date.

Ancient Methods

Some ancient methods of determining the baby’s sex still surface today, although they are merely guesses. Still, they can be fun to participate in. In fact, the nurse I had during one of my pregnancies kept telling me I was having a boy based on the heart. I had a girl.

R is for Rashes

"r is for rashes"For the most part, my girls won’t prone to rashes. Still, every once in awhile they would get one that would make diaper changing extremely unpleasant. Most babies experience rashes occasionally, and it is important that these rashes are treated right away to prevent them from becoming any worse.

Why does your baby get a diaper rash? Diaper rashes can happen for several reasons. Your baby may have diarrhea from an illness or from teething. Your baby may also be allergic to the baby wipes or lotion that you were losing. If your baby sleeps a long time, it is possible that a wet diaper may have begun to irritate your baby’s skin. Whatever the cause, the treatment for a diaper rash is the same.
